Gideon's Army
“Yahweh then said to Gideon, with the three hundred
who lapped the water, I shall rescue you.” Judges 7:7.
We know that God loves every person in the world; every person is unique and cherished in his heart. This is the message of the scriptures, God loved us so much he sent his only son to die on the cross to save us from sin and offer us the free gift of salvation (Jn 3:16) God’s love for us is at the heart of evangelisation; we have experienced God’s love and mercy and forgiveness and we want to share it with others. The School is an education and evangelisation resource which, through its formation courses, offers dioceses and parishes a means to help develop a mission mentality among our Catholic people.
The last act of Jesus was to commission his disciples to go out to the whole world to tell them the Good News and make disciples. The first act of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost was to send the disciples out to obey Jesus’ command. Evangelisation was the first priority of the Church then and it’s the first priority now. If the Church is to be an evangelising Church then our parishes have to be evangelising parishes and our parishioners have to be evangelising disciples.
We seek to make this a reality by providing training to make our parishes evangelising JESUS PARISHES; parishes where everything that the parish does focuses on Jesus, alive and with us. There are 1375 Catholic parishes in Australia and our goal is to help to establish Parish Evangelisation Teams in every one of these parishes. This is an impossible goal without the power of the Holy Spirit and an army of committed disciples who share this vision.
Part of this commitment is to provide the financial resources to enable this vision to become a reality.
